Professor, Author & Speaker

Dr. Allison Weidhaas likely reminds you of the woman next door, but behind this professor’s unassuming appearance lies a secret—one so powerful it took her four years to share it in court and almost two decades to tell her mother.

Today, this published author, advocate and college professor tells her incredible story of being drugged and raped, coming forward to testify in court, the tumultuous outcomes, and the need to keep moving.

In her talk, audiences can learn about survival, facing the court of law and the court of public opinion, how our legal system treats victims, and rape culture. While Dr. Weidhaas directly addresses rape/sexual assault, her speaking also addresses universal themes, including overcoming adversity, making a difference and not allowing one experience to define your life.

As a university professor, Dr. Weidhaas frequently speaks with college students and is accustomed to presenting in a virtual setting.

Dr. Weidhaas’ story is far from over, she has earned four college degrees—a BA, MA, MS and a PhD, received university grants and is a vibrant part of her university community. She studies gender issues, teaches undergraduate communication courses, directs her university’s communication graduate programs, and is currently writing another book—this one about a serial rapist. She is also a wife and mother of two children.
